Google rolled out the Lake America change on Saturday, while the official US government maps are still waiting.

Oswego's mayor said the name is "rooted in history, geography, and the shared identity of the communities that surround it.”

Sackets Harbor, located along the eastern shores of Lake Ontario, is home to a number of Canadian residents. A village of 1,400 people, it was a major military outpost and naval command center during the War of 1812, when the U.S. clashed with British and Canadian forces.
