A gunman shot a state trooper during a traffic stop, carjacked a vehicle then drove to a church where he killed two women and wounded 2 men on Sunday, Lexington police said.
The Lexington Police Department found the man after being called around 1:30 p.m. to a residence in the 1800 block of Darien Drive.
Lexington Police and Kentucky State Police say they took 58-year-old Jerry Gumm of Nicholasville into custody after he allegedly tried to drive through the grass and enter the active crime scene outside the church.
Lexington police revealed that they have identified the suspect who fired shots at the Blue Grass Airport before fleeing to the Richmond Road Baptist Church
Gov. Andy Beshear thanked swift response by police, asked for prayers for those shot at Blue Grass Airport and Richmond Road Baptist Church.
