Home plate umpire Doug Eddings did the one thing nobody wants to see in professional sports on Friday night in the St. Louis Cardinals-Colorado Rockies game.

The sixth inning turned tense during Friday’s Rockies-Cardinals clash in Colorado when Hancel Rincon’s MLB debut was interrupted by a dispute over his cap.

Players from St. Louis and Colorado tilted their caps Saturday night in apparent protest of umpire Doug Eddings one day after he instructed Cardinals rookie pitcher Hancel Rincon to straighten his hat.

Cardinals players wore their hats with a tilted brim during infield drills and many wore their hats slightly turned during the game as show of support for reliever.
