New Dallas Stars forward Mikko Rantanen denied the notion that he had a list of four teams that he would extend with.

The 28-year-old was acquired in exchange for forward Logan Stankoven, a 2026 first-round pick, a 2026 third-round pick, a 2027 third-round pick and a 2028 first-round pick

With the Hurricanes against the ropes and Rantanen refusing to commit to signing an extension before the deadline, Carolina traded him to the Stars. The 27-year-old forward agreed to an eight-year, $96 million extension with Dallas, carrying a $12 million cap hit yearly.

Rantanen is tied for 10th in the NHL in points this season (70) and is fourth over the past five seasons (437 in 351 games).
