Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway filed an emergency U.S. Supreme Court appeal to restore the Trump-backed congressional redistricting map.

A Missouri man on Monday urged the Supreme Court to leave in place a ruling by the Missouri Supreme Court that bars the state from using a new congressional map that could give Republicans an additional seat in the upcoming November elections.

Napear was fired after the “All Lives Matter” tweet he posted amid nationwide protests following the death of George Floyd.

Missouri’s Supreme Court said a map redrawn to help Republicans could not be used in November and said voters should decide on the new boundaries.

The ruling has major implications for this year’s midterms, where Republicans hold significant cash advantages at the party level.

In the Havlish litigation, families and estates of Americans killed in the Sept. 11 attacks obtained a default liability judgment against the Taliban in December 2011. Their outstanding compensatory damages total about $2.09 billion, according to the Supreme Court filing.

Democrats’ criticisms coincide with signs of negative public opinion about the Supreme Court, with a July 2026 Washington Post -Ipsos poll showing that 46% of Americans believe the court is ruling on Trump’s policies based on ideology rather than the law. The conservative Justices have denied that the court's decisions are politically motivated.
