Streetlights and sidewalks have been installed. Broken pavement has been replaced. But residents say the work should continue after the Super Bowl leaves.

For the 59th Super Bowl, the French Quarter is meant to smell of lemons. That’s according to Michael Hecht, president and CEO of Greater New Orleans Inc. and state coordinator for infrastructure for the effort to prepare New Orleans to host the very big football game.

With the sheer amount of law enforcement on every street corner and security measures in place, “New Orleans will be the safest place to be anywhere in the country,” said Phillip Constantin, an adviser with the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency.
