A 14-year-old is dead and 8 others were injured in a pair of shootings in downtown Chicago on Friday night, police said.

A shooting near the Chicago Theater in the city's Loop neighborhood Friday evening prompted a heavy police response in the area. Around 10:20 p.m. Friday, Chicago police said they were responding to a shooting near State and Lake Streets, authorities said.
