Space stocks were soaring on Tuesday—again. SpaceX seems to be the cause—again—with the 12th test of its huge Starship rocket launching on Friday evening.
The explosion occurred around 9:00 p.m. ET on May 28. Blue Origin was preparing a rocket set to carry 48 satellites for Amazon’s internet competitor to SpaceX’s Starlink, which is owned by Elon Musk, another billionaire who has spent a lot of money to make things blow up.
These two ambitious players are reshaping the space economy, but their distinct business profiles and paths create very different risk and reward profiles for investors.
Shares of Intuitive Machines (NASDAQ:LUNR) are up 9% in mid-morning trading Thursday, while Rocket Lab (NASDAQ:RKLB | RKLB Price Prediction) stock is down 3% and Planet Labs (NYSE:PL) stock is lower by 2%.
