Shortly before first pitch Friday, the Red Sox shifted Roman Anthony to the designated hitter role because he was feeling a bit under the weather. He’s not yet 100% but is back in the outfield as Boston looks for its third straight win in a Saturday matinee in the Bronx.

A squirrel ran onto the field at Yankee Stadium and caused a brief delay during the game between New York and Boston.

One of the first stories I wrote for the Globe was about the Red Sox giving a tryout to a mysterious lefthanded fireballer from Cuba named Aroldis Chapman in 2009. Chapman was 21 at the time and had established residence in Andorra after defecting from Cuba during a tournament in the Netherlands.

The 22-year-old Red Sox prospect allowed just one run, one hit and no walks while striking out nine in 5 innings. He reached 98.6 mph with his fastball.

The Boston Red Sox need to add a first baseman to their roster, and they could target New York Mets slugger Pete Alonso in the offseason.

The Yankees offense was overmatched again by Brayan Bello — as well as Aroldis Chapman, who closed out the game in the ninth.
