Several users threatened to delete Google Maps after it adopted Trump’s disputed new name for Lake Ontario in the U.S.
Google announced that it had begun rolling out changes to how its maps display Lake Ontario's name, after President Trump signed an executive order changing it to "Lake America."
The lake will appear as “Lake America” in the U.S. and “Lake Ontario” in Canada, similar to Google’s change for the Gulf of Mexico last year.

Sackets Harbor, located along the eastern shores of Lake Ontario, is home to a number of Canadian residents. A village of 1,400 people, it was a major military outpost and naval command center during the War of 1812, when the U.S. clashed with British and Canadian forces.
The change is similar to a move by the tech giant following Trump’s first day back in office.
