MINOT — The Minot Air Force Base is saying the near-collision of its B-52 bomber and a commercial SkyWest flight was a result of miscommunication from the Minot International Airport tower to the B-52 crew.
The Delta service, operated by SkyWest, was forced into an 'aggressive maneuver' to avoid the bomber. Officials at Minot Air Force Base say that pilots on one of its B-52 bombers was not informed of an incoming Delta service from Minneapolis - St. Paul International Airport, which resulted in a near-miss in North Dakota.
The FAA and the Air Force are investigating a very close call over North Dakota on Friday when a B-52 bomber and a Delta Airlines regional jet nearly collided in the skies over Minot. NBC News’ Tom Costello has the very latest tonight.
