Washington Commanders right guard Sam Cosmi suffered a season-ending ACL tear in Saturday’s 45-31 road win over the Detroit Lions in the playoff divisional round, coach Dan Quinn announced Sunday.

Sam Cosmi, as tough as they come, deserved to be reveling in Washington’s win over the Lions, not awaiting an agonizing diagnois.

The Washington Commanders will be without starting right guard Sam Cosmi for the rest of the playoffs. Cosmi suffered a torn ACL in Washington's NFC divisional-round win over the top-seeded Detroit Lions on Saturday night.

Washington Commanders starting right guard Sam Cosmi has a torn ACL and is out for the remainder of the NFL playoffs.

Washington Commanders right guard Sam Cosmi, who sustained a knee injury in Saturday’s 45-31 NFC Divisional Round victory over the Detroit Lions, will undergo an MRI on Sunday. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network,

There was only one blemish in Washington's 45-31 win over the Detroit Lions Saturday in the NFC divisional round. Right guard Sam Cosmi went down with an injury in the second quarter and did not return.

Unfortunately, this time, the price that Washington paid for the victory may be higher than usual after guard Sam Cosmi went down with an apparent knee injury on running back Brian Robinson Jr.'s first touchdown run of the game. Head coach Dan Quinn offered an update to us on Sunday.

The Commanders will play in their first NFC championship since the 1991 season next Sunday. They'll do so without one of their best offensive linemen.

Commanders offensive guard Sam Cosmi was injured when Brian Robinson ran for a go-ahead touchdown early in the second quarter. Cosmi’s right leg bent awkwardly and he limped off the field.
