As the deadline to avert Trump tariffs nears, President Sheinbaum emphasized the importance of the USMCA deal and her efforts to save it.
President Claudia Sheinbaum of Mexico said her government would impose countermeasures if President Trump’s 25 percent tariffs on Mexican goods remained in effect later in the week.
"After speaking with President Claudia Sheinbaum of Mexico, I have agreed that Mexico will not be required to pay Tariffs on anything that falls under the USMCA Agreement. This Agreement is until April 2nd.
His answer comes just days after the tense Oval Office meeting between Vance, Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Last Monday night, the United States paused aid to Ukraine. Vance said Trump is trying to send a "very explicit message" by withholding aid to Ukraine.
