PETA activists tried to dump a truck full of manure outside the Manhattan office of the group’s rival, the ASPCA — but the stinky stunt was stymied by the frigid weather on Thursday.

The alleged poop dumpers were protesting a rival animal rights group over its backing of an animal welfare certification program.

Newsweek has reached out to PETA and the ASPCA on Friday night via email for additional comments. This protest represented the latest escalation in PETA's ongoing campaign against the ASPCA.

A spokesperson for the ASPCA, meanwhile, defended the board for “setting basic standards” in the marketplace, adding the conflict boiled down to a philosophical difference with PETA.
