Twenty years on from a championship, details get blurred as stories only get better. But it’s right on the money to say the Sox never would’ve won it all had they not remade their roster in a tone-shifting manner.

Carlos Santana hit a tiebreaking two-run homer in the sixth inning, and the Cleveland Guardians beat the Chicago White Sox 4-2 in the opener of a split doubleheader.

CHICAGO –– A key part of the White Sox ongoing rebuild takes place Sunday and Monday with the MLB Draft. General manager Chris Getz and company will make their first selection at No. 10 overall, followed by a second-round pick at No. 44.

Stuck choosing at No. 10, but with two picks in the first 44, the Sox are hoping to nab a pair of players to make the next stars of their rebuilding project.

Amid dealing with the rain, a double-header, and extra innings, the White Sox managed to pull off the win with a Mike Tauchman walk-off.

Mike Tauchman drove in Colson Montgomery with an infield single in the 11th inning, and the Chicago White Sox beat the Cleveland Guardians 5-4 to salvage a doubleheader split.

Adrian Houser allowed one run over seven innings to help the Chicago White Sox end the visiting Toronto Blue Jays 10-game winning streak with a 2-1 victory in the finale of a three-game series Wednesday afternoon.
