President Donald Trump has backed plans including permanently fencing Lafayette Square that were previously rejected to maintain public access to "People's House."

A White House spokesman said the alley renovations included fixing broken lights. The project comes as the president has sought a broad overhaul of the White House and its surroundings.

The White House is spending nearly $253K on bowling alley lighting work, but officials say the project is routine maintenance, not a renovation.

President Donald Trump on Monday announced nine more deals with pharmaceutical companies to lower certain drug prices, the latest addition to his administration’s effort to address health care affordability.

The fine arts panel, which is controlled by Trump appointees, approved the visitors’ center plans at its July meeting. It heard a presentation on the Lafayette Square fencing but took no action. The fencing also carries the most potential for controversy and opposition on Thursday.
