Our steam powered crane has 100-ton capacity. It was built by the Industrial Works of Bay City, Michigan in 1907 for the Nevada Northern Railway. We are going to use it to lift a Balwin VO diesel locomotive prime mover that weighs 35,000 pounds. THere are other videos on our page showing the lift. The Nevada Northern Railway National Historic Landmark is an amazing complex. I’m riding in the 1907 machine shop’s overhead crane from east to west. You can see Locomotives 93 and 81 back to back undergoing repairs. At the end of their service both locomotives were put on public display and sat outside for thirty years.
