This weekend will be the last weekend of operations of Locomotive 40 for about two years. She goes down for here 1472 day boiler inspection. While she is down for the inspection, we will also tackle running gear and tender issues. We expect to have her back in service in 2023. We were able to add one more day of operations. Locomotive 40’s last excursion train trip will be October 22, 2020 at 9:30 am. At 12:01 pm and 2:30 pm will be the last to opportunities to operate Locomotive 40 until 2023.

As mentioned in earlier posts, the 1:00 pm excursion train on October 28 consisted of three passenger cars, a flatcar and our caboose. Power for that train was scheduled to be Locomotive 40, a high stepping 4-6-0 steam locomotive with 69 inch drivers that turned 108 years old this past summer.
