Back in the day the RCN used to deploy some of their ships to Roosevelt Roads Naval Air station in Puerto Rico each Jan to paint ship. This was often an opportunity to crews to kick up their heels and enjoy the hospitality of the bases beaches and cheap libations at the NEX. The station was downsized and finally abandoned in the 90's although at times the airfield is still used to stage exercises and in this case an operation. Its currently a hub of activity.
