Singer Billy Joe Royal dies

Billy Joe Royal passed away on this date ten years ago. I opened six shows for him in Michigan that year and we drove up together on three occasions. Billy had an office in the Mel Tillis building, where I wrote, when I first came to Nashville. Billy had many country hits in the late 80's and early 90's like "Burned Like A Rocket" and "Tell It Like It Is" and huge Pop success in the 60's and 70's with hits like "Down In The Boondocks", "Hush" and "Cherry Hill Park".
